SINGAPORE: Singapore reported 13,623 new COVID-19 cases as of noon on Monday (Feb 21), comprising 13,476 local and 147 imported infections.

There were seven fatalities, taking the death toll from coronavirus complications to 952.

SINGAPORE: There were 22 new COVID-19 cases in Singapore as of noon on Thursday (Feb 4), the Ministry of Health (MOH) said.

All the new cases were imported and had been placed on stay-home notice or isolated upon arrival in Singapore. Three cases were symptomatic.

365 new COVID-19 cases reported in Singapore; 134 Omicron infections confirmed

SINGAPORE: Singapore reported 365 new COVID-19 cases as of noon on Tuesday (Dec 28), including a record 173 imported infections.

There were no fatalities and the country’s death toll from coronavirus complications remained at 825, according to the latest infection statistics on the Ministry of Health’s (MOH) website. Tuesday was the second day since Sep 19 this year that saw no new COVID-19 deaths reported.

48 new COVID-19 infections in Singapore, all imported in 10-month high

SINGAPORE: Singapore reported 48 new COVID-19 cases as of noon on Sunday (Jan 24), said the Ministry of Health (MOH).

This is the highest number of imported infections in Singapore since Mar 23, when 48 imported cases were also reported.

Are hamsters at higher risk of COVID-19 and should they be routinely tested in Singapore?

The Animal & Veterinary Service says it is monitoring the situation in Hong Kong closely after the city ordered a hamster cull over COVID-19 fears.

SINGAPORE: After Hong Kong’s decision to cull hamsters over fears that they could spread COVID-19, Singapore’s Animal & Veterinary Service (AVS) told CNA that it is monitoring the development “closely”, but that it is not necessary at the moment to conduct routine testing of pets for the coronavirus.

Small mammals like hamsters are required to meet AVS’ veterinary conditions for import, said the agency’s group director of professional and scientific services Dr Chang Siow Foong.

1,165 new COVID-19 cases in Singapore; 609 Omicron infections confirmed

SINGAPORE: Singapore reported 1,165 new COVID-19 cases as of noon on Monday (Jan 17), including 534 imported infections.

There were no fatalities, according to the latest infection statistics on the Ministry of Health’s (MOH) website. The death toll from coronavirus complications stands at 843.

Monday’s case count is up from the 863 reported on Sunday.

It is also the first time since Dec 2 that Singapore has reported more than 1,000 daily cases.

Among the new cases reported on Monday, 631 are locally transmitted. The Health Ministry did not provide a breakdown of the number of cases in the community and in migrant workers’ dormitories.

A total of 609 new Omicron infections were also confirmed on Monday, comprising 229 imported cases and 380 local cases. This is presented as a separate set of data from the daily COVID-19 cases.

Singapore hopes to ride through Omicron wave with measures tightened only as ‘last resort’

SINGAPORE: The current COVID-19 measures will only be tightened as a “last resort” when Singapore’s healthcare system is under heavy strain, said Health Minister Ong Ye Kung in Parliament on Monday (Jan 10).

“It is the (multi-ministry task force’s) hope that we can ride through the Omicron wave with the current safe management measures,” he said in response to questions on whether stricter rules will be put in place.
